Karhi or Kadhi (aka the yellow curry) originates from Indian Subcontinent. The cooking recipe I have for making Karhi is a unique way that I learned from my mom and she learned from her mom and on. It consists of thick yogurt, gram flour (besan), and spices with deep fried pakora (fritters). You can eat Karhi with boiled rice, roti and paratha. They are many different ways to cook Karhi across the country. They all use besan but some use only pakora, or pakora and vegetables, or instead of pakora they have meatballs. Enjoy!
Yesterday was the 12th Rabi' al-Awwal. This date is believed to be the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and is celebrated in many muslims countries. For this reason, I made these dishes as it is a custom, especially back home in Pakistan.
This is Bhuna Gosht, an Indian Subcontinent dish. Bhuna means fried in Urdu, whereas Gosht means meat, a Persian word. Bhuna Gosht consists of loads of spices, onions, tomatoes and more. This makes it rich as well as super delicious. You can make this dish with beef with bones, chicken or mutton. Bhuna Gosht can be eaten with plain rice, roti, naan or paratha, accompanied with raita (yogurt sauce) and slices of onions.
Halwa originated in the Middle East. It is from the Ottoman Turkish word (Helva) which was derived from Arabic (حلوى). Halwa is a sweet that is eaten throughout the world from Asia to Europe to Africa. There are various kinds of Halwa, I will focus on Sooji Halwa, super popular in Indian Subcontinent. Sooji Halwa is made from semolina, ghee, sugar and nuts. It is accompanied with Puri or Poori (a deep-fried bread), and Channa Masala (chickpea curry). In Pakistan, Halwa Puri is eaten for breakfast and special events. My baba used to call his chef to make Halwa Puri at home, the chef was really skilled and fast at making them from scratch. This was the first time it spark my interest to make my own :D. With help from my mom, I became great at making them, as my kids say. 😁💕

Ground meat also known as minced meat in the U.K, and as Keema in the Indian Subcontinent, is widely made throughout the world. It can be made from beef, chicken, lamb and more. Keema comes from the Turkic word “qıyma” meaning minced meat. The recipe I made today is a Pakistani style of beef Keema, with loads of spices that will surely be the perfect meal to-go. You can eat it anytime from breakfast to dinner and it is high in protein. It can be accompanied with roti, naan or rice and you even put it in a sandwich, as well as raita and onions. RECIPE COMING SOON!
